Located in Nunavut, Pond Inlet—known in Inuktitut as Mittimatalik—is a remote Arctic community situated on the northern tip of Baffin Island along Eclipse Sound, approximately 2,700 kilometres north of Winnipeg.
With a population of roughly 1,600 residents, Pond Inlet is a predominantly Inuit community with a strong cultural identity rooted in Inuit language, traditions, and a deep connection to the land and sea. Often referred to as the “Jewel of the North,” the community is known for its stunning Arctic landscapes, including glaciers, mountains, and sea ice, as well as its proximity to Sirmilik National Park.
