Located in Northwestern Ontario, North Caribou Lake First Nation—also known as Weagamow Lake or Round Lake—is a remote, fly-in community situated along the shores of North Caribou Lake, approximately 320 kilometres north of Sioux Lookout and about 500 kilometres northwest of Thunder Bay.
With a population of roughly 700 residents, North Caribou Lake is part of the Windigo First Nations Council and has a strong cultural identity rooted in the Ojibway language and traditions. The name “Weagamow” reflects the community's connection to the surrounding lake system and its importance to daily life and traditional activities.
Like many northern communities, year-round access depends heavily on reliable air service, with seasonal winter road access supplementing connectivity during colder months.
