Located in Northwestern Ontario, Muskrat Dam First Nation is a remote, fly-in community situated along the Asheweig River system, approximately 430 kilometres north of Sioux Lookout and about 600 kilometres northwest of Thunder Bay.
With a population of roughly 300 residents, Muskrat Dam is part of the Windigo First Nations Council and has a strong cultural identity rooted in the Ojibway language and traditions. The community's name reflects the importance of the muskrat to the region, both culturally and historically.
