About Keewaywin First Nation
Located in Northwestern Ontario, Keewaywin First Nation is a remote, fly-in community situated along the shores of North Caribou Lake, approximately 500 kilometres north of Thunder Bay.
With a population of roughly 300 residents, Keewaywin is an Oji-Cree community and a member of Keewaytinook Okimakanak (KO), which represents several First Nations across Northern Ontario. The community has a strong cultural identity rooted in the Oji-Cree language and traditions, with deep connections to the surrounding land and waterways.
Keewaywin is one of the newer communities in the region, having established its permanent settlement in the late 20th century, and continues to grow and develop while maintaining strong ties to traditional land use
