North Star air also offers logistical support to the resource development and transportation industry operating across the far north of Ontario and has extensive experience in delivering support services to the Ring of Fire development and other exploration projects.

Warehouse and Storage

North Star Air operates at the east end of the Pickle Lake airport and boasts 12,000 square feet of indoor storage capability along with plenty of outdoor parking and ground storage area. 

We offer fork lift equipped warehousing, storage and material management services which complement and support air and ground based cargo handling. We are positioned and equipped to safely and securely store, stage and organize your cargo.

Ground handling services

North Star Air’s experienced and well trained staff are equipped to provide safe, efficient ground handling and loading services for all types of aircraft. Knowledge of each aircraft operational capabilities allow our staff to assist in maximizing the available customer payload and reduce turnaround times to a minimum.  

Our team manages the cargo at every stage of the process from planning the loads and preparing the cargo to loading the aircraft.

Plus all personnel meet Federal and Provincial Government regulations for safe handling of both passengers and their baggage as well as large and small cargo items, including dangerous goods that are allowed to be transported by air.

We provide our clients with an intimate knowledge of the North. We know its infrastructure limitations, its people and the logistical support requirements needed to operate in harsh and isolated environments. Our logistics specialists are able to provide project planning, technical support, and also staff and equipment to complement our clients work plans.

Purchasing and Procurement

North Star Air has extensive experience providing immediate access to goods and services for our northern clients. From groceries, to small equipment, building materials, to heavy equipment, skilled personnel and small and bulk fuel purchases, we can find the right “stuff” to meet your needs. We will utilize our numerous contacts to ensure your northern operation runs smoothly and efficiently, by making deliveries to your site quickly and safely with our own aircraft or by utilizing other cost effect means of transport.

We also have access to larger aircraft, and can charter on your behalf.  As well, we have heavy equipment for loading (i.e. ATR, DC-3, Hercules) of bulk freight, machinery and equipment.

Freight Forwarding

From our northern airport location we are equipped, ready and able to ship your freight to anywhere across Canada, US or the world.

Logistics Support

We help our clients who need an immediate response when emergencies arise – from replacing parts when breakdowns occur on drilling rigs, to essential equipment for mining machinery, to rush parts for unserviceable aircraft or special orders of groceries for exploration camps.  North Star Air provides the vital link between suppliers and remote locations across the North when time is critical.
